CALL Course Review

In this time i will review one of course that i learned in 4th semester, It's named Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL).

Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is an approach to teaching and learning in which the computer and computer-based resources such as the Internet are used to present, reinforce and assess material to be learned.

This lesson greatly helped me to broaden my insights into the computer technology and to know the varied applications used for learning and teaching. 

In 4th semester i learned about CALL course. My Computer Assisted Language Learning lecturer named miss Euis Kurniasih M.Pd and she is also my PA Lecturer in my class (R4G class).

She is humble person, she is also relaxing person, she is the person who always smiling when she is talking or teaching.

My first impression at her was she was very cared with all the students and i think she's a good listener and a good solver about anything.

Since 4th semester, CALL schedule in my class is on Monday at 07.30 am to 09.10 am. We used WhatsApp group, Google meeting and Google classroom.

We usually learned with Miss Euis used Google meeting and it started at 08.00 am.

In Google meeting, Miss Euis is explained materials. When she taught, she explained the material so directly and clearly.

She also gave an example of the lesson being taught, so it made it easier for the student to understand the lesson better. 

Miss Euis was always ask to students about the materials, and we usually share about our mind of anything in our meeting as like the material that we didn't understand, shared about any stories or shared difficult materials or lesson and how to solve it.

After the class we usually had an assignment for these materials which had explained before. The assignment time duration was a week and we collect it on Google classroom.

In CALL course, We had individual assignments and group assignments.

In first task was group assignment and the members were 4 people. We made tutorial English app presentation for school student. Then we made ppt for presentation and recorded voice for explaining the English app tutorial in ppt.

The next task was individual assignment. The task made an conversation animation, We used to animation in plotagon's app about global goals and I chose the subject of zero hunger. I thought the subject was very attractive.

Then the individual assignment was created blog and i used blogger app. In these blog there are 5 topics :

The first is about Our profile, it was telling about myself, my activity, etc.

The second is a review of the Educandy app, as like the advantage and weekness about the application.

The third was a review of our supporting apps during learning English,

The fourth was a review of the YouTube channel that we subscribe to develop our English skills and 

The last was review of call courses for 1 semester that we've learned from CALL lesson.

The advantage for learning about this CALL course are let students see their progress. The feelings of success and satisfaction are key to encouraging students to want to learn more. Students can easily see the progress they’re making. As like when we were making animated English conversation on plotagon app we're know about the progress, and every time we do the task or get to the next level in make some rewiew on blog about app for learning English or others review can also improve our written skills, we feel as if we’re doing well, which keeps us engaged in the lessons.

I think this lesson is very interesting and fun for me because we can learn the science of this technology and know there are many applications that can help us understand and improve our English in a pleasant way.
